Only a dream

Prompt: Imagine your OTP sitting peacefully at a beautiful park and holding each other. Basically, they are having the perfect day. Suddenly, Person A finds them self in their room. It had been a dream and Person B has been dead for years.

  “Nick, I don’t know how you did it, but the fact that you got the money to bring me to this beautiful park in Japan is amazing!” The spirit medium remarked.

  “Well, you know I always have my ways of doing things.” The attorney smirked.

  “Oh shut up, you most likely got this money from Edgeworth, didn’t you?”

  “Why would you think of such a thing? I actually paid for this myself thank you very much!”

  It was a lovely Spring in Japan, the cherry blossoms were blooming, the grass was green, and the newly wedded couple sat on a bench near a lake and under one of the many cherry blossoms. Phoenix Wright, a legendary defense attorney, had known and loved Maya Fey, his assistant and the Master of Kurain Village, for about eleven years now. Even while he was disbarred, he always thought about her. Phoenix wrote her many letters that pleaded for her to come back to him, yet he ultimately threw them away because he didn’t want to disturb Mayas training with his own problems. It was only recently that he finally got the guts to ask Maya to marry him, in which she said yes. After the wedding, he used whatever money he had gotten (in which most of it came from his friend, Edgeworth) and took her to Japan for their honeymoon.

 While in Japan, Maya practically dragged Phoenix all over the place to explore and try out everything and anything it had to offer. It got to the point where Phoenix’s wallet was running close to empty, despite all the money that was given to him by Edgeworth. By the time they got to the park they were currently sitting in, the sun was setting and lit the sky with beautiful hues of reds and oranges.

  Maya leaned her head against Phoenix’s shoulder. “I had a lot of fun today, Nick. Being here, with you, my adorkable husband, It’s the best thing I could have ever asked for.”

  Phoenix chuckled and leaned his head against hers. “I agree. Being here with my beautiful wife is the best thing ever.”

  “This is one memory I’ll never forget. And to think that this is only the beginning of an amazing chapter in our lives.” She closed her eyes. “I hope this never ends.”

  The attorney placed his arm around Maya as he too closed his eyes. “Well Maya, I have a feeling that this chapter won’t end for a very, very, long time.”

   When Phoenix opened his eyes, he found himself in his room. That’s odd. He thought I could have sworn I was in Japan with Maya right now… He then looked to the side. There was no one next to him. Confused, he got out of bed then went over to Trucys room.

   “Hey, Trucy! Do you know where Maya is?” He called out. “…Trucy?” He slowly opened the door only to find that it looked like a normal guest room. It was empty of everything that once belonged to his beloved daughter.

   What the… What’s going on!? He questioned to himself. Where’s Trucy!? Where’s Maya?!

    Panicking, he quickly went back into his room to get dressed to start looking for them. However, he passed by something that caught his attention.

   It was the calendar. And it said that the year was 2045.    

   Phoenix stared at the calendar for what seemed like hours. Then it hit him. Trucy was gone, traveling the world and putting on magic shows for all to see. This also meant that Apollo and Athena have gone their separate ways, making law agencies for themselves.

  And as for Maya…

  Maya had been dead for years. Her life was cut short by a man who murdered her in cold blood.  

  It was a case he had remembered all too well. He remembered how he almost broke down trying to defend his client, how he refused to end the trial until the murderer was sent to prison, and how he felt that it was his fault that she had died, all because he wasn’t with her to protect her.

  “No… No no no no!” Phoenix fell to his knees as tears started to form. “NOOOOOOOOO!” He grabbed his head as he started to sob. “No… Maya…”
